Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Bureau is comprised of the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is comprised of 35 Deputies .The Patrol Division provides Law Enforcement services for 13 towns that do not have their own Police department. The Division is commanded by a Captain and there are two Lieutenants that oversee the four Sergeants. The four Sergeants are in charge of a shift which is comprised of 5 to 8 Deputies depending on the time of day and day of the week.
Criminal Investigation Division
The Criminal Investigation Division is comprised of 11 highly trained and experience Detectives. The Division is commanded by a Captain, who also supervises the Civil Division and Court Officers. There is a Detective Lieutenant that oversees the day to day operation of the Division. The Division includes an Evidence Technician, Polygraph Examiner, Domestic Violence Investigator, Crime Analysis Specialist and 4 Core Detectives. These 4 Detectives are responsible for investigation of Felony cases that include Gross Sexual Assault, Death Investigations, Burglaries, and Aggravated Assaults, Manslaughter, Thefts and any other Felony cases.
