VIPS Senior Neighbor Awareness Program
The Senior neighbor awareness program is for seniors and disabled resident who need that extra reassurance that someone cares. A volunteer from the Sheriff’s Volunteers In Police Service group will call you every morning between 8:00AM and 10:00 AM to insure you are OK.

What Happens if I do not answer when they call?

If there is no response when we call, your emergency contact person will be contacted. If your emergency contact does not know were you are, the VIPS will then do a wellness check. The Volunteer will go to your home to check on you.
Am I eligible for this program?

If you are a Cumberland County citizen over the age of 60 and/or disabled, you are eligible for S.N.A.P. We have never turned anyone down. If you feel this service is for you then contact us.
Why would I need this program?

If you are living alone or feeling lonely

If you have been recently discharged from the hospital

If your friends and family live far away

If you have a need for daily contact with a caring person

Does this program cost anything?

No. The Senior Neighbor Awareness Program is a volunteer service provided by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s office and the Volunteers In Police Service.
Why do you need this information?

The information we gather will be used only to make contact with you and is kept confidential. The reason we ask where a spare key may be found is so we may gain access to your home to check on you if we can not make contact with you over the telephone. We ask about your pets so that we may be prepared to deal with your pet if we must enter your home. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
