Started in 2008, the Volunteer in Police Services (VIPS) is a group of enthusiastic individuals that add another dimension to the face of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Trained to national standards, the VIPS assist the Sheriff 's Office in a variety of non-law enforcement duties such as citizen patrols, property checks, traffic surveys, radar monitoring, and administrative duties, just to name a few.
The VIPS provide the Sheriff 's Office and the Citizens of Cumberland County an extra set of eyes and ears thus enhancing safety efforts in our community.
