The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office 9-11 Memorial was unveiled on September 11, 2017. We were honored to have the company of the the Artist Greg Ondo, Freeport Flag Ladies, the United States Marshal Noel March, a representative from Congresswoman Chelle Pingree's office, The Main Public Safety Pipe and Drum Corps., the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard, Ms. Erin Schnupp, several key officials from Cumberland County government and many neighbors from our community.
It was a poignant event with a performance by the Maine Public Safety Pipe and Drum Corps. and germane and moving speeches. The honor guard hoisted the flags and two of the design committee members Deputy Tyrone Leslie and Deputy David Dunneman unveiled the monument.
The monument remains on display in front of the Cumberland County Jail for public viewing 24/7.
