Training

Row of Law Enforcement Officers Saluting

The needs of our community are complex and ever-changing.  The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office works diligently ensuring that our staff are trained in the latest methods of police and corrections procedures in order that we may provide best practices in service.

Each year we provide over 20,000 hours of training.  Along with the mandatory state trainings, the Sheriff's Office provides specialized relevant trainings such as information and procedures to respond to the opioid crisis, active shooter training and crime scene processing.

Through creative and innovative planning we provide critical information in a cost effective manner.

Professional Standards

Professional Standards involves ensuring that we design the best policies and procedures to provide our citizens and our employees the best services possible.  This requires us to reach out to others in the field to learn and expand our knowledge base.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is the proud recipient of three accreditation certifications:

American Corrections Association -ACA

Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies - CALEA

National Commission on Correctional Health Care - NCCHC

These certifications are hard won.  It takes the whole agency to become a success at each, and each is a long and detailed process.  We are very proud to offer you state of the art humane and relevant services.
