Incident Synopsis:

Since Monday, October 1, 2018 the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service have been conducting a search for a missing North Yarmouth Woman, Kristen Westra.  This is an update to that investigation.

Today at approximately 10:30 am the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center received a telephone call reporting that a body had been found in a wooded area off of Gray Road in North Yarmouth.  Investigators from the Cumberland

County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Serve immediately responded to the scene and confirmed the report.                                              

The Office of Chief Maine Medical Examiner (OCME) was contacted and they responded to the scene. The body of a deceased female was taken to the OCME in Augusta for further examination.  No positive identification has been made at this point.  The joint investigation continues with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police.
