Incident Synopsis:
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Casco Fire/EMS, Naples Fire/EMS and members of the Raymond Fire/EMS responded to a severe two vehicle crash on Route #302 (Roosevelt Trail) in the Town of Casco. The area is otherwise known as Watkins Flats.
Vehicle #1:
Blue 2014 Chevrolet Cruze
Alana Eidemiller 34 year old female from Casco
Vehicle #2
Green 2001 Subaru Legacy
Leonard Grover 47 year old male also from Casco
At or about 0518hrs, the Chevrolet Cruze crossed the center line and struck the Subaru head on. The impact was violent and entrapped the single occupants in both vehicles. The engine block of the Chevrolet Cruze dislodged from the vehicle and caught fire on the roadway. Both occupants had to be extricated from the wreckage. The operator of the Subaru Legacy was transported by Life Flight to the Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. The operator of the Chevrolet Cruze was transported by ambulance to Bridgton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries
The crash investigation is ongoing by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office’s Reconstruction Unit. Route #302 has been closed in this area at this time.
