Incident: Fatal Crash in the Town of Casco
On the above date and approximate time, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office along with Casco Fire and Rescue responded to the intersection of Routes 121 and 11 for a motor vehicle crash. A maroon Harley-Davidson FLHX S motorcycle driven by 52 year old Robert Hollingshead of Poland, Me was traveling northbound on Route 11. A black 2011 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by Everett Davis, 80 years old from Gray was traveling north on Route 121. Davis stopped at the stop sign, however then proceeded into the intersection and collided with Hollingshead. Hollingshead was pronounced dead at the scene. Davis was transported to Maine Medical Center for minor injuries. A passenger in the truck, 80 year old Judy Davis, was not injured.
Routes 11 and 121 were closed for approximately 2.5 hours. It does not appear that speed and alcohol are factors. The Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team is reconstructing the crash and the investigation is ongoing. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
