On the above date and time, New Gloucester fire and rescue personnel along with Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the Lewiston Road in New Gloucester for the report of a motorcycle crash. First responders found the male operator face down in the roadway with a serious head injury. Witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and passed several vehicles before losing control. The motorcycle went on its side and skidded down the roadway several hundred feet before coming to rest. The single occupant and operator was not wearing a helmet and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Family has been notified.
The operator has been identified as Alec Blanchard (26) of Auburn Me. Blanchard was operating a 2010 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. The crash remains under investigation at this time and will be reconstructed by Cumberland County Sheriff Crash Reconstruction Team.
