On the above date and time, Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded for a single vehicle crash into the trees off Bridgton Road in the Town of Baldwin. Members of the Baldwin and Standish fire departments responded as well.
Ryan D. Smith 25 years old of East Baldwin was the operator and sole occupant of the silver 2004 Ford Ranger. Smith lost control of the vehicle and went off the road striking a group of large trees. Smith was pinned inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Speed was a factor.
