With the main lobby of the Cumberland County Jail closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in response to requests from the public, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has developed a way to dispose of your unneeded, unwanted, expired medications. The Sheriff’s Office is now providing curbside drug take back at the Sheriff’s Office campus, 36 County Way, Portland, Maine, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 am to 4 pm. For the safety of those involved, no personal contact will be made between the people dropping off medication(s) and agency employees.
Members of the public wishing to participate in the program are asked to call and make an appointment to drop off their medication(s), over-the-counter medications as well as pet medications. The only stipulation is that no liquid medications or needles can be accepted.
