Armed Car Jacking – Stabbing (Limington, York County) – Pursuit with Suspect and vehicle Standish and Gorham (Cumberland County)
Incident Synopsis:
On the above date and time, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office located a suspect vehicle on Route #25 in Standish and engaged the suspect vehicle in a pursuit.
The suspect vehicle, a 2005 Buick LeSabre had been stolen in the Town of Limington (York County) by a male armed with a knife. The male had stabbed the owner/driver of the vehicle and fled the scene in Limington in the stolen car, still armed with the knife. The victim in this originating incident in York County suffered a minor, non-life threatening injury.
The pursuit of the offender and stolen vehicle proceeded through areas of Standish, into the town of Baldwin, back into Standish and ended in the town of Gorham. During the course of the pursuit several Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies, York County Deputies, Gorham Police Officers and the Maine State Police became involved in the pursuit and termination.
The suspect vehicle was disabled by Law Enforcement officers deploying Spike Matts on the suspect vehicle on three separate occasions. The pursuit was safely concluded when a Maine State Trooper was able to position his Police Cruiser safely and utilized a PIT MANUVOUR to disable the suspect vehicle permanently.
The Offender fled the stolen car on foot and was pursued by a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy K-9 Team and several other Officers. The Offender was bitten by the Sheriff’s Office K-9 while attempting to evade capture and was taken into custody. While being taken into the Custody the Offender kicked an Officer in the Face. The offender sustained minor injury from the K-9 bite and was treated by EMS on scene prior to being transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
During the course of the pursuit the offender in the stolen vehicle side swiped a motorist causing reportable damage. There was no injury as a result of this crash. Three Deputies sustained minor injury during the course of this incident. None of the injury required medical treatment.
The Offender, 31-year-old MASON DAY of Brownfield, Maine was transported and is being held at the Cumberland County Jail. Day was wanted on multiple warrants unrelated to this incident and is being charged with the following crimes:

Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon (Cumberland County)
Passing a Police Roadblock (Cumberland County)
Assault on an Officer (Cumberland County)
Refusal to Submit to Arrest on Detention (Cumberland County)
Violation of Conditions of Release (Cumberland & York County)
MASON DAY is being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bail and will appear in Portland Court as early as Tuesday for an arraignment.
