 Release Date:  April 4th, 2021

On April 4th, 2021, at approximately 2:27am, a concerned citizen on Maple Ridge Road in Standish contacted the Cumberland County Communications Center to report a suspicious vehicle in the area.  The caller was able to provide information that led responders to believe that people were stealing mail from mailboxes. 

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office were in the area within minutes and located an individual attempting to access a mailbox on Quail Ridge Drive in Standish.  Deputies were able to stop the vehicle that was attempting to leave and subsequently arrested the occupants. 

Located in the vehicle were parcels of mail with addresses throughout Gorham, Buxton and Standish.  

Robert Fusillo, 29 years old of Sebago was charged with theft and criminal mischief.   Angela Cunningham, 31 years old of Buxton was charged with theft, criminal mischief and possession of schedule “Z” drugs, possession of schedule “W” drugs and trafficking prison contraband.   They both were booked in the Cumberland County Jail. 

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will be working with the U. S Postal Service, Gorham and Buxton Police Departments to investigate this incident. More charges are likely as the investigation continues.  

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office would like to highlight the importance of reporting suspicious activity in your area.  The actions of the concerned citizen this evening likely prevented further thefts and allowed the Sheriff’s Office to get resources to the area quickly to apprehend the suspects.
