On the above date and time, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Standish Fire/EMS and a Windham Police Department Accident Reconstructionist responded to the Chadbourne Road (Route #35) at the intersection with the Middle Jam Road for a Motorcycle vs. Tractor Trailer crash.
A 2020 Peterbuilt Tractor hauling an excavator on a Lowboy trailer, owned by Gorham Sand and Gravel, operated by Robert Walker, 39 years old of Gorham was making a wide right-hand turn from Chadbourne Road onto Middle Jam Road.
A 2003 Harley Davidson Motorcycle operated by Raymond Taylor, 60 years old of Standish was traveling in the same direction attempted to pass the trailer truck on the right during it’s right-hand turn. The motorcyclist was crushed during the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. Driver inattention/failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and improper passing played a role in the causation of the crash. Speed and alcohol do NOT appear to be factors in the crash at this time.
Sheriff’s Office works diligently to provide information as soon as is practical and will provide updates as necessary.
Raymond Taylor was not wearing a helmet at the time of the Crash and sustained significant injury leading to his transport to the Maine Medical Center.
